Response to COVID-19

Dear Top Tier Family,

In order to minimize the impact of COVID-19 and encourage the safe practices suggested by our government and leading health organizations, we are canceling or postponing all scheduled events and closing our play space and board game rental library until further notice. This means that while the retail portion of our store will remain open, there will be no organized or casual play of any kind. We will also be temporarily adjusting our store hours to close at 8pm every day.

The safety and security of our community are of the utmost importance, and we believe that these changes will allow us to further minimize the spread of COVID-19 in Mississippi. We will still be here to provide you with the latest games and gaming supplies alongside our expert advice on what’s good in gaming, and our staff will be practicing all sanitization techniques suggested by health officials. Thank you all for your continued support. Know that everyone here at Top Tier Board Games is thinking of you and looks forward to gaming with you again once this difficult time has passed.

Ben - Genesys: Shadow of the Beanstalk

Finally, Fantasy Flight Games has delivered a science fiction supplement to support their setting-neutral narrative RPG system, Genesys.

Shadow of the Beanstalk!

Based on FFG's Android universe but compatible for any science fiction setting, SotB offers extensive rules for character creation, setting creation, and mechanics like hacking, cybernetics, genetic modifications, and a favor exchange system! My players are having a blast! Balancing morality and the harsh reality that nobody survives the seedy metropolis of New Angeles without getting their hands dirty has been a real challenge for them when compared to the traditionally more stereotypical good and evil encounters in fantasy RPGs.

If you have never tried FFG's Genesys system and want to add a collaborative story-telling effort to your campaigns, I highly recommend giving it a go. I have ported every setting from fantasy to sci-fi to horror into the Genesys system, and every session is full of laughs, thrills, and chills. If you're curious about learning more, please don't hesitate to ask! I'm always up for a chat!

Nick - Star Wars: X-Wing 2nd Edition

I have been playing the new Star Wars: X-Wing 2nd Edition with the new factions Galactic Republic and Separatist. X-Wing 2nd Edition has really stepped up their game with the streamlined game play along with awesome new mechanics for all the factions. Since the beginning of the game I have been waiting to play as Jedi Star Fighters and now I can, with Jedi like Anakin and Obi-Wan! Also playing as the bad guys and piloting the Sith Infiltrator as Darth Maul is really cool.

Fantasy Flight has done a great job making the new edition and staying true to the game. With all the new factions popping up they are really setting up a choice when it comes to making army lists for X-Wing. Also the app has been a huge help for making the lists of star fighters for the game. Even though you have to use the app it is still a lot better than rummaging though tons of cards to fit all your upgrades on the ships.

I would recommend X-Wing 2nd Edition to anyone who loves Star Wars and wants to try a new game. Even the seasoned players I would recommend the new ships to add to their collections. The more ships the better.

Jeremy - Dungeon Mayhem

I'm constantly on the look out for fast, fun, and easy to learn games to share with my friends and family who are interested in board gaming, but who may be a little hesitant to jump into a 6 hour session of Twilight Imperium. Dungeon Mayhem checks all of these boxes. Dungeon Mayhem is an officially licensed D&D product that was created and played by the wonderful folks over at Wizards of the Coast.

It's a simple card game that has each of the players taking on the role of one of the four most well known classes of Dungeons and Dragons - Barbarian, Paladin, Wizard, and Rogue. Each player will have their own deck of cards and a hit point tracker. The object of the game? Be the last man (or woman) standing. You'll start with a 3 card hand and on your turn you will draw one card and play one. Some cards will allow you to damage other players, some will give you shields in order to absorb more hits without losing health, and some will let you play multiple cards in a single turn. The best cards, however, are the class specific special cards that have some pretty amazing game play implications. For instance, the Wizard's “Vampiric Touch” card allows you to trade hit points with any other player. Making it very clutch when you're about to die and another player is sitting at nearly full health!!

And that's it! Very easy to learn. It also has the added benefit of playing quickly, making it the perfect game to warm up for a longer gaming session or a palate cleanser between longer games, or just a quick way to kill 15 minutes. In conclusion, Dungeon Mayhem has definitely rolled a natural 20 for FUN!!

Corey - Pandemic 10th Anniversary Edition

Pandemic has a special place in my heart as my gateway game. It introduced me to the broader world of board games beyond Monopoly or Clue, and started a whole new hobby for me. When Z-Man Games announced they were releasing a deluxe 10th Anniversary Edition, I preordered it the very same day. And it doesn’t disappoint!

For those of you who aren’t familiar with Pandemic (what? get down here and try it!), you play as an elite disease control team trying to prevent four deadly diseases from ravaging the globe, while also finding a cure for those diseases before it’s too late. Each player has a special ability based on their role, like Medic, Dispatcher, Scientist, Quarantine Specialist, and more. If a disease goes unchecked in one city for too long, it can outbreak into nearby cities, upping the danger and pushing the game ever closer to an unfortunate end.

Pandemic 10th Anniversary Edition cranks it up to 11 with all new components including a new game board, petri dishes to store the new wooden disease cubes, sculpted miniatures instead of plastic pawns, new card backs and art, icons to denote each disease, and to top it off it all comes in a real metal (and real heavy too) first aid kit box with an organizer made to fit sleeved cards and all released expansions! Whew, that’s a lot.

For those new to the game and seasoned veterans alike, Pandemic 10th Anniversary Edition is worth the buy, and is sure to be proudly featured among your collection.

Ben - Star Wars: Legion

This month, it's been all about Legion. As a gamer that loves painting and war games but hates assembling and massive army sizes, Star Wars: Legion has been the perfect balance. Legion lets me play with all my favorite Imperials (Vader is a beast) in a strategic war setting with plenty more iconic characters on the way (here's looking at you, Boba).

The starter box came with half of an entire army and I only needed a few more models to get to a full size army (which neatly fits in a shoe box). And this isn't some shoot 'em up war game, either. The gameplay forces you to make calculated tactical decisions based on specific goals within only six turns. If you've been looking for the perfect war game to blend hobby and strategy, I highly suggest giving Legion the old Jedi try!

Nick - Star Wars: X-Wing 2nd Edition

Recently I have been playing X-Wing Second Edition. Second Edition released last Thursday and is a major upgrade to an already great game. Fantasy Flight took everything that made the game great and fixed the things that either didn't make sense or were too overpowered.

One of the major changes to the game is the amount of points all the ships cost. Most ships doubled in points or were majorly changed. The point limit for games also changed from 100 to 200 points. Fantasy Flight Games also made an app to help with list building and keeping up with what all you own.

As far as the game play goes the game is smoother and less complicated. With the added phases it really makes the abilities matter and be more effective. My favorite part of the game is the replayability. Every time you play it you get a new experience and no game ever plays exactly the same again.

Logan - Catch the Moon

Hello all! This go around for What We’re Playing I’m going with Catch The Moon! If you haven’t tried this super fun, super fast-paced, super easy to learn game, you’re missing out!

Reminiscent of the classic game of Jenga, this game amplifies the concept of stacking all the way up to an 11. Players must build their ladders as high as they can while facing challenges with each new ladder. This game is perfect for the board game night for family and friends.

Corey - Patchwork

Patchwork is a two player tile placement game very reminiscent of Tetris, but in board game form! You have many oddly shaped tiles (patches) that you need to fit onto your quilt board in any way you can. Patches have buttons on them that count as currency during the game, and as victory points at the end. However, the best patches with the most buttons on them advance you toward the end of the game faster, leaving you less time to fill up your quilt! Empty spaces on your quilt during end-of-game scoring count heavily against you, so filling up those spots is crucial.

Players take turns buying patches for their quilt board using buttons, and advancing their time token toward the center of the time board, which triggers the end of the game. The player with the most points at the end wins! This simple to learn and easy to play two player game is quick and engaging, with stimulating strategy and forethought required. I definitely recommend anyone give this a try, and if you have even less time for gaming than the thirty minutes necessary for Patchwork, give Patchwork Express a shot!

Ben - Genesys

The long wait is finally over! Genesys is here, friends, and it is beautiful.

Genesys is a role-playing game system from Fantasy Flight Games that uses the same narrative dice system that its popular and ongoing Star Wars RPGs currently employ. Essentially, this narrative system adds two new elements to the binary success/fail of most RPGs by way of Advantage/Threat and Triumph/Despair. Failure can still yield positive results (if unintended ones), and success has its consequences. Perhaps a character manages to hot wire a vehicle while under fire, but in their haste, they also sever the steering mechanism. The car runs but only in a straight line!

The Triumph and Despair symbols rarely appear, but when they do, the characters get an opportunity to significantly contribute to or possibly alter the entire narrative! In RPGs I've run, it has always been important to me that player characters feel like their role and actions matter in the story. Games like Genesys with its narrative dice system make every action have consequences no matter the actual, intended result.

So why Genesys when we already have the wonderful Star Wars RPG? Genesys brings versatility. It is designed as a neutral system that Game Masters can apply to whatever setting they want, from modern day horror to medieval fantasy to steampunk to everything in between! I'm currently adapting Call of Cthulhu to the Genesys system and setting my PCs in Cold War Europe, and so far, the conversion has been seamless. This system might very well be my favorite so far, and I highly recommend giving it a try! If you're curious about learning more, feel free to shoot us a message, as I am always happy to chat and demo RPGs!

Nick - Legacy of Dragonholt

I have been playing Legacy of Dragonholt. It is an RPG like none I have played before. The game is based on story more than combat. It uses choose your own adventure instead of dice or other ways to progress through the story.

Me and my friends all made characters and went to work. The setting in this game is the world of Runebound. The game uses an active and inactive mechanic to show who can make the decisions.  Once a person has made a story point decision they are inactive and then when it comes to another point an active person makes that decision. Once all players are inactive they reset.

So far the game has been very fluid and has been funny and very fun. Every choice you make will have a big impact on where you go from there. I highly recommend this to anyone who is just starting into RPGs or just wants to try something different.

Logan - Fallout

This time around I'm playing the new Fallout Board Game! I can't begin to tell you how much fun this game has been! This game allows you to pick a few major locations from the popular video game series and begin your adventure. Once you choose your location, you are assigned to a faction. Your job is to assist your faction in gaining control of the area. However, you must also keep yourself relevant to the faction by collecting victory points. The twist being, the game can win itself without you! If you don't have enough victory points after the faction gains control of the area, you lose. So choose carefully if you and your friends wish to work together or choose rival factions.

Fans of the video game series will appreciate several of the in-game references and familiar locations, and fans of board games will appreciate the detail of the pieces and play style. Just remember, "War. War never changes."

Corey - Queendomino

I wrote about Kingdomino when that released, so it's only appropriate that I give its big brother (big sister?), Queendomino, the same treatment.

Queendomino is the gamer's upgrade to Kingdomino's simple but fun tile placement mechanic. If you ever thought Kingdomino was too simple, this is the game for you. In addition to choosing a tile and connecting it to your kingdom in the usual manner, there is a new red tile type for buildings. Buildings can be bought from a track in the center of the table for increasing gold amounts. When you buy and place a building on an empty red tile, it will count for Victory Points based on your other tiles, as well as often providing an immediate benefit, such as some number of Knights or Towers.

Knights can be added to a freshly placed tile to collect gold for you, so you can fund your buildings. Towers are placed anywhere in your kingdom to attract the queen. Whichever player has the most towers controls the queen, who does a couple of things for you. First, she reduces the cost of all buildings by one. Then at the end of the game, she counts as an extra crown in your largest territory for scoring purposes.

At first I was worried that all these new mechanics were being added just for the sake of it, but after playing Queendomino a few times that is not at all the case! As much as I loved Kingdomino, I think Queendomino improves on it in every way, adding a very appropriate level of complexity and overall bringing a very balanced game that might appeal more to the heavy gamers out there without excluding the family in the process.

This Month's New Games - Pandemic Rising Tide, Terraforming Mars Venus Next, Epic Spell Wars 3, and more!

top tier new games banner.png

Pandemic: Rising Tide!

For centuries, the Dutch have relied upon a series of dikes and wind-powered pumps to keep water from invading their lands. But with a quarter of the Netherlands reclaimed from the sea and the population constantly expanding, a new system is needed to hold back the ever-encroaching waters. In Pandemic: Rising Tide, you and your friends play as a team of Dutch civil officials helping to modernize the water containment system.

Your ultimate goal is to construct four hydraulic structures that will ensure the safety of the Dutch people for generations to come. To accomplish this task, however, you must first buy yourself enough time by building dikes to control water flow, ports to facilitate travel, and windmills to pump the water out of flooded lands. But proceed with caution. A single misstep could send water spilling across the countryside. Choose your actions carefully, work as a team, and usher in the Industrial Age!

Happy Salmon Blue!

Happy Salmon is the simple, fast-paced card game packed to the gills with high-fivin’, fin-flappin’ fun. Actions including the classic "High 5", the unifying "Pound It", the frantic "Switcheroo", and the delightful “Happy Salmon” will leave players doubled over in laughter. With so many mini-celebrations built into the play, it’s the happiest game ever!

Happy Salmon Blue has arrived.  It's the same fintastic game as before but with different color cards. Use by itself or use in conjunction with Happy Salmon Green to expand your game to 12 players!

What We're Playing!

Ever wondered what games the guys behind the counter enjoy in their off time? Wonder no longer! This is What We're Playing!

ben selfie 2.png

Ben - Cat Lady

This month, it's been all about Cat Lady. In this cute and hilarious cat-collecting game, players draft cards featuring various cats, cat food, cat toys, and cat costumes from a shared pool, trying to create matching sets to maximize their victory points by the end of the game. Be careful how many cats you have though as each fuzzy friend you bring “home” must be fed a specific diet by the end of the game. There's even cat nip and spray bottles to manipulate the available draft pool and maximize your cats' happiness! This short, fast-paced game features card-drafting, hand management, and set collecting and is a great introductory game for new gamers. Join the likes of Ernest Hemingway and Marie Antoinette by fostering the greatest cat collection in the world and become the ultimate cat lady!

Nick - Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition

With the release of Xanathar's Guide to Everything, I have been anxious to try out the new subclasses and spells.  My play group and I have all rolled new characters and have been tearing through dungeons with these new subclasses. We have also taken advantage of the back story generator in the guide.  With the random generators it has been fun coming up with new ways to role play our new characters.  It even lets you have life-altering events! One of mine was that I drank a potion that makes me able to eat anything for nourishment. Another life changing event was written into the story and I now have a enemy who is out to get his revenge on me.

Xanathar's Guide to Everything has great resources for players as well as DMs.  It has all kinds of tables for new options and guides for the DM. I recommend it for anyone who is playing or hoping to play Dungeons & Dragons!

Corey - Hero Realms

Hero Realms is a fantasy-themed deck building game, and what can I say? I’m a sucker for both of those. This game has been recommended to me since it released and for some reason I never tried it until now, but I’m glad I finally did!

Those of you familiar with deck builders won’t find many surprises here. Each player starts with an identical deck of cards featuring attack power and your card-buying resource, gold. On each player’s turn, they play the cards in their hand to gain some combination of those two resources, and use them to buy new cards for their deck and attack their opponents. Be the last one standing to win the game!

What sets Hero Realms apart is its incredible fantasy art, tight mechanics and gameplay, and quick play time. One mechanic in particular that I want to mention is chaining cards. Each card that can be bought from the main deck is marked with one of four factions - Imperial, Necro, Wild, and Guild. Many of the cards also have an extra faction symbol at the bottom of their card with an additional effect like more damage, more gold, etc. Whenever you play two cards from the same guild, they “chain” and activate each other’s extra effects.

What truly makes Hero Realm unique as a deck builder is the character packs. They give each player a unique starting deck and abilities that can be activated every turn, and help to focus your deck from the beginning, rather than everyone starting from exactly the same point.

Hero Realms is a great addition to any gamer’s collection, and fans of deck builders will love this one!

That's all this time around, but be sure to check back in next month for a glimpse into what's new, what's good, and What We're Playing!

This Month's New Games - Charterstone, Fallout, Queendomino, and more!

top tier new games banner.png

Charterstone!

In Charterstone, a competitive legacy game scaled for 1-6 players, you construct buildings and inhabit a shared village. Building stickers are removed from cards and permanently added to your charter on the board, becoming action spaces for any player to use. Thus, a few available buildings soon grow into a bustling village with dozens of actions.

Your journey through Charterstone’s many secrets will last 12 games, but it doesn’t end there. Your completed village will be a one-of-a-kind, variable worker-placement game. Or you can purchase a completely optional recharge pack to play a second campaign.

Scythe: The Wind Gambit!

Take to the Skies

This expansion for the hit engine-building game Scythe includes two new modular expansions: airships and resolutions.

In the airship module, each player starts the game with a miniature airship of their faction's color, with its own set of abilities determined at the beginning of the game, on their home base. The resolution module adds resolution tiles which will impact the way the game ends, and the decisions you make during the game.

Smile!

Deep in the forest, in the dark of night, hungry creatures emerge in search of your juicy fireflies. They quickly gather around, waiting for what they crave. In Smile, a collection of cute little critters will surround you no matter what you do. It’s up to you to make sure that these creatures are worth the most points at the end of the game. Some creatures add to your score, but others reduce it.

Carefully bid your fireflies each round to get your hands on the creatures who give you the highest score and avoid getting stuck with those that provide negative effects. After the last round, your fireflies will be worth nearly nothing, so spend them wisely if you want to be smiling at the end of the game.

Fallout!

Fallout is a post-nuclear adventure board game for one to four players. Based on the hit video game series, each Fallout scenario is inspired by a familiar story from the franchise.

Survivors begin the game on the edge of an unexplored landscape, uncertain of what awaits them in this unfamiliar world. With just one objective to guide them from the very beginning, each player must explore the hidden map, fight ferocious enemies, and build the skills of their survivor as they attempt to complete challenging quests and balance feuding factions within the game.

As they advance their survivors' stories, players will come across new quests and individual targets, leading them to gain influence. Who comes out ahead will depend on how keenly and aggressively each player ventures through the game, however if a single faction is pushed to power too quickly, the wasteland will be taken for their own, and the survivors conquered along with it.

What We're Playing!

Ever wondered what games the guys behind the counter enjoy in their off time? Wonder no longer! This is What We're Playing!

Ben - Clank! In! Space!

Clank! In! Space! Is! Great!

Sorry. I'll try to stop! putting exclamation points everywhere, but! it's addictive. And so is Clank! In! Space! (referred to hereafter as CIS for obvious reasons).

I'm not a huge deck-building game lover overall. I enjoy Star Realms and Hero Realms because of their similarities to Magic: the Gathering, but the mainstays like Ascension, DC Deck-Builder, and Legendary never really appealed as the themes were not for me (has there been a three month span without a superhero movie?).

CIS turned out to be the perfect entry point. Themed in space and full of hilarious parodies from all manner of space-set television and movies, the game goals are simply: gain access to Lord Eradikus' command area, steal an artifact, and escape the ship before he and his army of minions kill you, all as quietly as possible. Along the way you're buying cards for your deck, moving about the ship, collecting special skills and items to aid you and fighting off security as you Clank! your way through the steel corridors and security checkpoints (sorry, couldn't resist).

There are so many different deck-building strategies and funny cards that I never experienced a dull moment. The amazing part is that I opened it and learned it out of the box without difficulty on the first play through!

If you're looking to try out a deck-building game for the first time, want to widen your deck-building horizons, or see what all the Clank! is about, come by and try our demo. I'll be happy to teach anyone as this is easily one of my favorite games ever and one that I feel will draw anyone into deck-building.

Nick - Legend of the Five Rings

I have been playing the crud out of Legend of the Five Rings!  This is a new product by Fantasy Flight Games that was an older game that started in the late 90's and has now been acquired by them.

Legend of the Five Rings is a fantasy based game set in feudal Japan.  The game follows the top clans of Rokugan as they fight and use politics to gain the upper hand and win the emperor's favor.   Fantasy Flight has taken the core feel of the game and made a few adjustments to make the game play more fluid and responsive.

I have been playing L5R since the 5th of October and have been having a blast with it and my friends up here at the shop. The game has beautifully made cards with awesome artwork.  The game itself is pretty easy to play - about three games and we had it down.

In the game, each player fights or uses politics to conquer the opponent's provinces using the might and political power of your characters. Once you have conquered three of the opponent's provinces you try to take over their stronghold. Once you have beaten it you win!  Also another reason I love the game is there are two other ways to win other than breaking their stronghold. A player also has a resource called honor, and if a player has 25 honor they win the game, or lose when they have no honor.

I hope people give this game a try. It is a wonderful new addition to the Fantasy Flight LCG family. Give it a try!

Logan - Cosmic Encounter

Cosmic Encounter is a game of alien conquest, teamwork and betrayal. Each player chooses an alien species that, in its own unique way, has a game breaking power. Through a series of either peaceful negotiations or hard fought battles, you begin to conquer one another’s planets.

Each phase of the game can create allies and enemies. You can either choose to conquer the galaxy alone, or bring up to three other players with you. As fate itself pits friend against friend, who will come out on top as the true ruler of the galaxy?

Corey - Neil Gaiman's A Study In Emerald

Whew, how to describe this game? If you can imagine a mash-up of social deduction, deck-building, area control, and resource management in a Sherlock Holmes meets Cthulhu setting, you’ve got a pretty good picture of this game. Sound crazy? Let’s break it down.

The Old Ones have been ruling the earth for over seven hundred years. While most of humanity has welcomed their new eldritch overlords, and in fact a faction of Loyalists work to maintain their hold, an underground resistance movement called the Restorationists aims to topple the Old Ones’ rule. Their efforts at overthrowing the Elder Gods were largely futile until the invention of TNT. Turns out good old high-powered explosives are Cthulhu’s one weakness. Who knew?

Each player begins the game with a matching player deck, some agents, and a pool of influence. There are cities representing areas where Old Ones have taken control, each with a stack of cards available to buy. The agents are placed in cities where that player wants a card to add to their deck (the deck-building element). These cards can have a range of effects, from adding agents to the board and moving them around, to killing other players’ agents and even the Old Ones themselves! Buying a card requires you to have more agents and influence in that city than any other player (the area control element), but once a card is bought, your influence in that city goes into “limbo.” You must use your cards to retrieve this influence and add it back to your pool before you can put it on the board again (the resource management element), so be careful not to over-commit to a certain location. Ultimately you must deduce who among you is on your side and who is working against you (the social deduction element) so you can pursue your own goals and end the game with the most victory points!

I’ve had my eye on this game for a long time, and I’m glad I finally had the chance to play it because I’ve never experienced a game quite like this. The setting is definitely my style and the gameplay is very unique, with elements of multiple types of games that I already enjoy. If you’ve been waiting to pull the trigger on this one, I say go for it! I’m glad I did.

What We're Playing!

Ever wondered what games the guys behind the counter enjoy in their off time? Wonder no longer! This is What We're Playing!

ben selfie 2.png

Ben - Century: Spice Road

If you know me, you know I love simple mechanics in a fast-paced game, and Century: Spice Road (my new love) certainly delivers. In this hand management/card drafting game, players are caravan leaders traveling the famed Silk Road, trading spices for gold and glory. Each player can only take one of four actions per turn (establish a trade route, harvest spices, claim a victory point card, or rest to refill their hand), so gameplay is smooth and strategic with no room for wasted actions.

On top of it all, the game looks fantastic! The art is beautiful and housed on large, colorful Tarot-size cards. Played in under an hour, Century: Spice Road is one of my favorite new games, and I'm extremely excited by the sequels to come in the Century series! If you're curious about the game and want to know more, just ask me!

Nick - Star Wars Destiny

This month I am playing Fantasy Flight's first CCG: Star Wars Destiny! It is a fast paced card game that also uses dice when playing. The game brings a bunch of old favorites from the movies as well as new characters from the new movies and TV shows.

The game starts with you bringing anywhere from one to four characters to battle your opponents, from force users to bounty hunters and everything in between. Each character brings special dice to the table that have a bunch of different effects depending on what side of the dice you roll.  You also have a deck of cards you use to power up your characters in order to defeat the other player's characters.

Star Wars Destiny is a fast game that plays very easily, but is complex enough to keep you coming back for more gameplay. I really recommend it to any Star Wars fan as well as any card game player!

Corey - Lovecraft Letter

Lovecraft Letter is a Lovecraftian twist on the classic card game Love Letter. The original is well known for being a dead simple to learn and play, quick card game that's guaranteed to have a theme that will suit anyone, from Batman to Archer and just about anything in between.

Lovecraft Letter introduces not only a new theme, but for the first time new mechanics as well! If you're unfamiliar with Love Letter, I'll give you a quick rundown. Each player is dealt one card, which will have various abilities. On your turn, you draw one card and play one card. Their abilities let you do various things like looking at another player's hand or knocking another player out of the round if you can guess the card in their hand. The last person still in the round gets a point, and the first person to an agreed point total wins.

In this new version of the game, eldritch influences from beyond can corrupt your mind and drive you insane. This leads to newfound powers though; certain cards have additional abilites that are only accessible once you are insane. These new abilities are much more powerful than their sane counterparts, however it is harder to win the game in this state. You only have to win two rounds while sane to win the game, but it takes three to emerge victorious while under the otherworldly influence.

Whether you're looking for a quick and easy new game to play, or want a new twist on your Love Letter games, Lovecraft Letter is a great addition to anyone's collection!
