Kill Team League | Warhammer 40k

  • Top Tier Board Games 4700 Hardy St, Suite W Hattiesburg, MS, 39402 United States (map)

The first Warhammer league of the year at Top Tier Board Games is Kill Team!

The league will consist of four or five Matched Play rounds (depending on attendance), with each round lasting two weeks. Entry is $20 and sign-ups will be open until the start of the league. All league participants will receive 15% off Warhammer and Citadel products for the duration of the league.

The league will be on an eight to ten week schedule, with rounds lasting two weeks (up to 16 players: four rounds/eight weeks; more than 16 players: five rounds/ten weeks).

Each player MUST join our Discord server (discord.gg/rAYXQEM) where pairings will be posted each round and meeting times will be discussed. This is to alleviate past communication issues between league members and difficulty with scheduling between opponents.

Kill Team Construction

Players must use the same Matched Roster for the duration of the league. Details for filling out a Matched Roster may be found on page 90 of the Kill Team Core Book. Briefly:
All operatives must have at least one faction keyword in common.
You can inlude a maximum of twenty operatives.
If an operative has any wargear options, these must be selected when they are added to your roster.
You must be able to deploy a minimum of one kill team from your roster.
Operatives that have the same selectable keyword (e.g. <CHAPTER>) must have the same keyword chosen (e.g. <DARK ANGELS>).
Matched Rosters will be provided to league participants and will be kept at the store. Before each game rosters will be given to players, and they must be turned in at the end of the match.

Schedule

Pairings for each round will be available on Challonge the Monday following the close of the previous round. The Challonge link will be posted in the #warhammer-40k-aos channel of our Discord server (link above). Subthreads will be created for each set of opponents to discuss scheduling. All results are due in by the Sunday of round end by close. Results must be reported to the employee on staff directly after the match has finished.

NOTE: There will be no make-up rounds in this league. All matches must be completed and reported by the Sunday of round end. Players may forfeit matches to have their opponent receive full points. If neither player wishes to concede, the match will be considered a tie.

Any league participant who does not play their match for two rounds in a row will dropped from the league without refund.

Round One: February 27th - March 12th
Round Two: March 13th - March 26th
Round Three: March 27th - April 9th
Round Four: April 10th - April 23rd
Round Five: April 24th - May 7th (if applicable)

Missions

Each round, a random mission from the Critical Operations Mission Pack (pgs. 119-137 of the Kill Team Core Rules) will be selected and all players will use that mission for the round. The mission will be announced along with pairings for that round.

Scoring

Matches in each round will add to your overall score. Match scoring is equal to VP earned during your game plus up to three total points earned in the hobby categories Fully Painted, Fully Based, and WYSIWYG (one point each). Scores reported to the staff on duty should be the total of your VP + hobby points for that round.

Prizes

Store credit will be awarded at the end of the league for the following categories:
Highest Score*
Best Sport (vote)
Most Improved (vote)
Most Thematic Army (vote)

*The number of players awarded for Highest Score will be based on total participation.
