Warcry League | Warhammer

  • Top Tier Board Games 4700 Hardy St, Suite W Hattiesburg, MS, 39402 United States (map)

Warcry is Games Workshop's skirmish version of Age of Sigmar, where you can have great tactical, strategic, small-scale matches of your favorite game. We're taking Warcry to the next level with an escalation league!

Entry for the league will cost $20 and will be open until the start of the league, and all participants will receive 15% off all Games Workshop and Citadel products for the duration.

Each player must provide a reliable method of contact upon signing up so that opponents may coordinate times to play each other. The most common contact method is through Facebook in our group Top Tier Wargaming Crew, or through private message.

Warband Composition and Escalation

This league will begin at 1000 points, following the core rules for mustering a Matched Play warband (Core Book pg. 78), and escalate according to the Escalation Tournament rules on page 79. Players separate their warband into a Dagger, Shield, and Hammer following the core rules, and note down on a Tournament Roster (provided by us) which of their fighters are in each of these battle groups. This is set for the duration of the league, so players cannot alter their warband or groupings from battle to battle, beyond what is allowed under escalation rules.

We will not be using Hidden Agendas for the purpose of scoring in this league, though players may feel free to use them in their games.

Escalation will occur as follows:
-For each league round after the first, each player receives 1 additional wild dice in the hero phase of the first battle round. For example, in the third battle of the league, each player would receive 2 additional wild dice in the hero phase of the first battle round.
-At the start of each battle after the first, the players roll off. Starting with the player who won the roll-off, each player picks 1 fighter to gain a destiny level (pg. 67), and then rolls for 1 lesser artefact on the lesser artefact table (pgs. 68-69). Destiny levels gained are in effect for the rest of the league. Lesser artefacts gained before each battle are automatically removed after the end of that battle.

Schedule

Each round will last two weeks starting on Monday and ending the next Sunday, with the full league lasting 4 rounds/8 weeks for 16 or fewer players and 5 rounds/10 weeks for 17 or more players. Round one will start Monday, January 31st.

Round One: Monday Jan. 31 - Sunday Feb 13
Round Two: Monday Feb 14 - Sunday Feb 27
Round Three: Monday Feb 28 - Sunday Mar 13
Round Four: Monday Mar 14 - Sunday Mar 27
Round Five (if applicable): Monday Mar 28 - Sunday Apr 10

Pairings will be available the Monday following the close of a round on Challonge, and you will be paired against a similarly-ranked opponent. All results are due in by the Sunday of round end by close. Results must be reported to the employee on staff directly after the match has finished.

NOTE: There will be no make-up rounds in this league. All matches must be completed and reported by the Sunday of round end. Players may forfeit matches to have their opponent receive full combat points, and either player may bring their army for the round to the store to be inspected by the employee on staff and receive applicable hobby points. If neither player wishes to concede, the match will be considered a tie, with each player receiving 10 combat points.

Battleplans

Games are considered to be Matched Play Pitched Battle. Each round, players will use a battleplan from Pitched Battles Battleplan Table A or Table B (pg 73), either mutually decided between the players or rolled randomly from among the 12 available battleplans. Twist cards will be chosen randomly from among Twist Card Tables A and B on page 158 and 159. Terrain placement will be mutually agreed upon between both players from among any terrain available at the store or brought by those players for each round.
