It's time to get Warhammer leagues back in the rotation, and we're trying something a little different this time! Check out all the details below on joining our free Kill Team league!
FORMAT
This league will follow the rules of the Spec Ops narrative campaign which can be found starting on page 95 of the Kill Team Core Book. Dataslates and Datacards will be provided for each player, and must be filled out prior to league start. The following information may be found in the Core Book but is copied here for convenience:
Players must first select their kill team's faction. This specifies what operative can be selected, and all the operatives in the kill team must have that faction keyword in common. Once chosen, one of that faction's kill teams must then be selected, adhering to the selection requirements it specifies, and complete a narrative datacard for each operative selected. Operatives that have the same selectable keyword (e.g. <CHAPTER>) must have the same keyword chosen (e.g. DARK ANGELS). Players can only add more operatives to their dataslate when a rule specifies, such as the Operative Assigned Requisition (pg. 109), and can never have more than 20 operatives on their dataslate. When an operative is first added to a dataslate, it always begins with 0 experience points, the Adept rank, and no Battle Honors.
Further information and clarifications can be found in the Kill Team Core Book. Please reference the book for any further specifics or rules questions, including rules for Base of Operations, equipment, strategic assets, choosing a Spec Op or Tac Ops, and more.
LEAGUE STRUCTURE
This league will take place over 8 weeks starting Monday October 18, with one round taking place each week (Monday-Sunday). Players will use the method of their choice to reach out to other league members and arrange games whenever they can. As such, there will be no set match pairings. Many players use our Facebook group Top Tier Wargaming Crew to connect with other wargamers, and we have a Discord server with a #lfg-wargames channel to use as well. If you have a different preferred method of contact please let us know when signing up. Participants may play against whoever they wish and up to one game per week will count toward the league, with some caveats that will be covered in the SCORING section.
A score sheet will be supplied for each player to record the round number, date, opponent name, and winner for each game they play. Dataslates, Datacards, and Score Sheets will be stored at the shop for safekeeping. They will be supplied upon arrival for a match and must be returned after all relevant information has been recorded.
NOTE: The round lasting from Nov. 22-28 (Round 6) may be played and reported up to one week early or late due to holidays.
Players will follow the Narrative Play Mission Sequence found on page 116 of the Kill Team Core Book when setting up and playing each game. The mission may either be mutually agreed upon from the available options (pgs. 120-137) or decided by die roll from the table on page 119. Note: follow all rules laid out on page 117 for determining the victor of each battle, including victory points for painted models.
SCORING
Scoring in this league will be based on a ticket system that will determine prizes at the end (see the PRIZES section). Each game played (up to one per week) will count as one ticket, and the winner of the match will receive an additional ticket. At the end of the league, players will also receive one ticket per unique opponent they played against.
Important note: Tickets will not be earned for either playing or winning a match after the third time playing against the same opponent. In other words, each participant may play a match against the same opponent up to three times, then no tickets will be awarded for further matches against that player.
Additionally, each player will receive another five tickets at the end of the league for having a fully painted army. Bring the army any time in the last two rounds and show a staff member that it is painted to receive your points.
PRIZES
Prizes will be awarded either based on tickets received or by vote after the league. Most Tickets will be based on total tickets while Random Drawings are raffle-style drawings from among all players' tickets. The more tickets you have, the more chances to win a prize. Prizes are awarded to the following categories (note - players cannot receive prizes from more than one category based on tickets. Vote-based categories may overlap):
Most Tickets (tickets)
Random Drawing (tickets)
Random Drawing (tickets)
Best Painted (vote)
Best Sport (vote)
Most Improved (vote)
Prizes will be chosen from among our back stock of prize models and Organized Play materials.
Start: Oct. 18
End: Dec. 12
