Our first Nationals and PTQ results are in after M11 and it’s already clear that something’s different. The M11 Titan cycle is pretty much exclusively featured throughout every tournament Top 8.

One of the most significant problems faced when trying to evaluate cards is trying to find a unit of measurement. But what can we use when trying to describe the value of objects in Magic?

One might say that the five titans are the biggest thing about Magic 2011. They are huge in play, of course, but they are also huge in terms of the set's identity. We knew that they would be, so we also put a huge amount of work into them. I'll talk about that work today.

Destructive Force and Fauna Shaman are the kinds of cards you can build an entire deck around. The question is, can we build a deck around both of them together? Both cards can simply blow out the opposition.

The things that this deck can do to so many opponents is simply disgusting. While the decklist is clearly impressive, I do believe there is room for some improvements.

Well, it looks like we don't exactly have a new best deck or anything; Jund occupied 25% of total Top 8 appearances and burgled twice the Blue Envelopes of the next-best deck. Though 25% Top 8 representation might actually be an improvement against numbers from earlier this year.

Educate players on how to outthink and outsmart their opponents? Essentially, teaching players how to behave intelligently? That's a tall order, but today I list all of the things that helped me reach the PT.

The Magic 2011 card Dryad's Favor depicts one of Magic's mysterious, tree-dwelling dryads granting a worthy human the ability to pass through the woods with supernatural ease—to "walk the forest," if you will.

This week I'd like to discuss another new archetype. Liliana's Caress is the latest version of Megrim. Megrim has always been a favorite amongst casual players. Both the 2010 and 2011 core sets are legal until fall; this means we can play a deck with eight copies of this type of effect.

I shared an abridged diary of game play from one of the Magic 2011 Prerelease Events I attended two weeks ago Since my article was already so long—I had cut over 1,000 words before polishing the notes into legible stories—I didn't have room to get into a nice, meaty takeaway. As it turns out I have a few regarding big events.

Originally, I sat down to write an article about my thumbs up review of M11. I’m not messing with you either. There are a multitude of reasons for my stamp of approval. However, it felt forced and a wee bit boring with the plethora of M11 articles out there. It suddenly occurred to me, nobody has done an article on collecting.

I spend quite a bit of time thinking of fun alternatives that don't see much play in the Pro Leagues. Maybe these decks are the next best thing, but more than likely they are just fun, solid decks to play at FNM.

If you were at the San Diego Comic Con this last weekend, you probably went to the Magic panel. So you might know some of this information. Or you might not. This is being written before the convention actually happens, so things might have gone horribly wrong, in which case we're so sorry for bringing up the tragic events. This is supposed to be a time of healing.

It's a familiar scene: you settle into your seat, get comfortable, lean your head against the glass, and watch as the landscape drops silently away or rolls serenely past your window. You sigh, surrendering to the inexorable illogic of stationary motion, and one thought suffuses your being as you sink drowsily into a book or a nap: Boring!

111 hopefuls have descended upon downtown Montreal to battle for the title of Canadian National Champion. Friday's all-day last-chance qualifiers were bustling, adding fourteen players to the mix, including former champ Dan Lanthier. Today they'll play through seven rounds and two drafts, setting up for a short Sunday of five rounds and the Top 8 playoff. All eyes are on standard constructed as we see Magic 2011's impact. Will the field be dominated by updated versions of Jund, blue-white control and mono-red, or will new developments like the red-green big mana deck and the Finnish Duelling Megrims take the day. Stay tuned for all the action!

Today I'm going to look at a card that I believe deserves its place in the decklists of tomorrow. Grave Titan isn't a card that creates its own archetype, but rather a card that a number of decks can make use of.

Last weekend, Australia's eyes were on Canberra - the Nation's Capital - as Prime Minister Julia Gillard announced the date of the much-anticipated Federal Election. But Gillard's got nothing on us this weekend, as Australia's very best Magic players assemble on this hallowed battleground once again to fight for the right to represent Australia at the World Championships in Japan at the end of the year. After a Judge-shattering 42 last-Chance Qualifier, or "Grinder" tournaments yesterday, the field size swelled to a national record of 134 players. Last year's team: Jamie MacKintosh, Ian Wood and Hugh Glanville are in the house, looking to defend their turf, along with previous teams and champions, and recent Pro Tour Top 8 competitor, Jeremy Neeman. The big story this weekend is of course, the exciting new Core Set, Magic 2011. How will the new cards shake up the already complicated Standard Metagame, and just how with M11 Draft differ from M10? Stay tuned here at MagicTheGathering.com while we keep you updated!

Day one of Australian Nationals has come to a close. Spells were slung, monsters clashed across battlefields, and Planeswalkers duelled over seven rounds of intense competition. M11 has had a huge impact on the Standard environment, with old decks fading into obscurity and new ones emerging. Drafting has been intense, with players coming to grips with a new set and developing their strategies. The one remaining undefeated player is Jeremy Neeman, who hasn't dropped a game all day. Neeman is looking strong to build on his Top 8 finish at Pro Tour: San Juan, and his Top 4 finish here last year. There are many talented players hot on his heels, though, with Justin Cheung and previous Champions Jamie Mackintosh, Aaron Nicastri and Steven Aplin showing strong, along with last year's finalist Ian Wood. Check back in for results, interviews and more coverage tomorrow!

Day two is underway, and we're on the home stretch to the Top 8 and ultimately, an Australia National Team. After his Top 8 finish at Pro Tour San Juan a few months ago, Jeremy Neeman is practically a National Hero, and is living up to that title by being completely undefeated so far this weekend. He hasn't lost a match (or a game!) so far, and is looking good to repeat his Top 4 finish here last year. Right behind him in the standings are Alex "Melbourne_Junkie" McCormick, Garry Wong, Justin "Juzza" Cheung and last year's champ, Jamie McKintosh. Keep it locked here at MagicTheGathering.com while we bring you all the updates on this Nationals-Packed weekend!
